Android 4.4.1 KitKat for Galaxy Note GT-N7000 ( Omni ROM )

Galaxy Note GT-N7000 (the first ever device in the Note series) can have Android KitKat and that too 4.4.1  !!

Yes. Its indeed a very good news. There are so many users like me who were waiting for this. XDA Developer XpLoDWilD has developed the wonderful Omni ROM. Even though in nightly stage, the ROM looks to be stable and smooth. I am using Omni ROM since last 2 days and I am really very happy with the ROM performance. There are many new features available with this ROM.

As the developer says, OmniROM is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.4 (Kitkat), which is designed to increase performance, reliability and features over stock Android for your device.

  2. Is there a problem with the video player after installing Kitkat on GT-N7000??
Also, can I continue to use Samsung Kies after the KitKat upgrade??
If not, what software should I use to backup my phone?
Can I continue to use Google Play??

    1. I have not faced any issues with video player. Its working ok for me after installing this ROM. I am not sure about using Samsung Kies. This update is not official one from Samsung (Samsung has TouchWiz UI for its phones). This is a custom ROM. You can connect the phone in mass storage mode to your computer.

    1. Strange. I have not faced such issues. Overall experience of using Omni rom was really nice for me. Have you tried installing the latest builds of Omni Rom? Omni Rom has entered into Android 4.4.2 version already. I am currently onto 30th April 2014 build. Just try doing full fresh install of Omni Rom and check whether you are still facing such issues.

Omni rom is AOSP based rom and thats why u feel like micromax's software as that is AOSP based too. Samsung integrates TouchWiz framework before selling the phones. I prefer AOSP based Android as the system load is much lower than TouchWiz based Roms.
