Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Galaxy Note GT-N7000 - Omni ROM builds

Galaxy Note GT-N7000 (the first ever device in the Note series) can have Android KitKat and that too 4.4.2  !!

In my previous post on Omni ROM for Galaxy Note, I mentioned that the Android 4.4.1 builds are available for note. But there is one more sweet surprise from Omni ROM developers. They have released 4.4.2 builds also. Its indeed a very good news for the Android fans like me. I am using Omni ROM 4.4.2 build on my Galaxy Note since last 5 days and I am really happy with the stability and performance of the ROM.

As the developer says, OmniROM is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.4 (Kitkat), which is designed to increase performance, reliability and features over stock Android for your device.

ART (the new Android RunTime introduced with KitKat) is also available alongwith Dalvik in this ROM. The more detailed explaination about ART (which is based on Ahead Of Time compilation) can be found on Android Police link as follows,

    1. Hi Arvind,

Since the Omni ROM installation, I have flashed GAPPS only once. The only thing is you should make sure that GAPPS you have flashed are compatible for ART (alternative for Dalvik cache) mode, so that you will not face any issues if you enable ART mode.

As far as SuperSU is concerned, I get notification if there is an update available from Play Store. I have updated SuperSU using Play Store updates without any issues 3 to 4 times. After update to SuperSU, its required to run binary scripts. You will get that as a notification once you update SuperSU. I personally don't think there will be any issue if you want to skip updating SuperSU but still better confirm the same from XDA forum link for Omni ROM given in the article above.

Also, please note one point. I have flashed the Omni Rom updates using TWRP recovery. After flashing the Omni ROM update, I had to flash SuperSU again in order to retain root access. Later on, I added SuperSU as a system application and now its not required to flash SuperSU again and again after every Omni ROM update. Refer XDA forum link for Omni ROM given in the article above to learn more about this.

    1. From the Omni ROM version you have mentioned, I am assuming that you too have Galaxy Note GT-N7000. Whenever I updated SuperSU from play store updates, it gave two options.

      1) Installing update scripts through recovery.
      2) Direct install when phone is running (without entering recovery) and then reboot.

You tried first one and I always went ahead with second. I never tried the first option. I did not face any issues.
